Artist Stephanie Stroud - Riverside Art

Stephanie Stroud, yes the same Stephanie that manages our framing department, is a highly skilled artist.  Her work evolved from a long time love of cutting and sewing fabric.  She translated those skills into a passion for collage.  Fusing the surface texture and clear color choices with clean dynamic shapes and a strong narration, she creates artwork that is both emotional and intellectual. Her collaborator, Lynn Litchfield, adds a calligraphic element.  Her fine, stylized lettering, brings the story into the image in a fashion that quietly brings the viewer even deeper into the artwork.

Stephanie is a RISD graduate.  Her focus was, and continues to be illustration, but her work is also engaging as stand alone pieces.  As viewers, we are drawn into the story first, we then see her brush strokes and the varied textures become apparent, and finally we recognize the three dimensional layering that redefines the space.  She is not beyond surprise elements, like twigs and other bits of nature.

Stephanie’s use of color becomes even more focused and dynamic as she turns her design skill toward her jewelry.  Here we have bits of wearable art that glimmer and sparkle.

Stephanie does accept work on consignment in addition to her portfolio of completed pieces.
